A Beautiful Day for a Walk

What a nice day for a walk! We went down to the greenbelt to walk down the dirt trail. The kids had a fun time looking for "treasures", which turned out to be little seeds they found. We talked about how everything was mostly brown due to the wintertime. In Spring we'll come back down the same trail and notice all the pretty flowers and bright colors. Hopefully, that little groundhog was right and we'll have an early spring!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Today was our Valentine's Day Party! We enjoyed a picnic lunch outside, frosted heart cookies, and exchanged Valentine's cards with each other. My favorite part of the party was when each child gave out their cards and wished each other a Happy Valentine's Day. Their cards were all so cute. As always, we had a FUN time celebrating together! Happy Valentine's Day!!

Heart Candy Graph

Today we each opened up a box of conversation heart candy and made a graph! First we sorted out all the colors. Next we matched the candy up to the graph and placed them in the appropriate boxes. Then we colored in our graph which gave us a nice visual of which candy we had the most of and which candy we had the least of. And of course, we had to eat the candy in the end! The kids really had a fun time learning about graphing and practicing counting too.

Groundhog's Day

Today is Groundhog's Day! Punxsutawney Phil did NOT see his shadow this morning so we have an early Spring on it's way! We all went outside (in the freezing cold) to measure our shadows and see how they change as the sun moves across the sky. We drew a line with chalk first thing in the morning. Then we came back a few times throughout the day to see that our shadow had moved. This is our Winter/Spring graph. Each child colored in one square, either Winter or Spring, letting us know what they hope the weather would be. The graph shows that winter is the vote for today. However, yesterday we unanimously voted for spring?!
Tomorrow we will enjoy playing 'Shadow Tag' outside IF it is a little warmer than in the 30s!!! Happy Groundhog's Day!
