Recycle, Reuse, Reduce!

This week we are talking about ways we can help our environment. Yesterday, we took all of our broken pieces of crayons and melted them into one BIG crayon. We also took empty toilet paper and paper towel rolls and taped them together to form a marble race track...which was lots of fun racing each other to see whose marble is the fastest!
Today we took empty milk jugs and cut out a hole to use as a toy to catch a homemade ball in. In the picture above you can see the kids in action playing with their "new" toys. We also did a toy swap today where the kids could bring in one of their toys from home that they don't use too often to trade with someone else. In other words, they came with one of their old toys and left with a "new" toy. This encouraged reusing, sharing, and using Earth's resources wisely.
